Doug Delzell

One afternoon in the summer of 2007 Doug found himself out of breath carrying in the groceries and looked at his youngest daughter and realized he needed to do something to get in better shape in order to have a more enjoyable lifestyle with his family. Doug and his wife joined the local Gold’s Gym where he was introduced to a couple of local athletes who took the time to invite him out to run and cycle with them a couple days out of the week. Soon this became something he was passionate about. He soon began to add the swim to his training and before he knew it he had decided to compete in a few triathlons. After finishing several events last summer in his first year of competition Doug decided that he would reach beyond the limits and set his sights on completing an Iron distance event. The thought of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and then finish it off with a 26.2 mile run seems like such a mountain before him but through God’s grace and the great friends and teammates on the FCA Endurance team Doug exclaims "I will complete this task!"

Doug enjoys each day meeting with all his great friends as he says he gains much needed wisdom and insight from each one of them. They have all helped him to dig deep inside and be all that God has created him to be. Before becoming a member of FCA Endurance you must agree to the Team FCA Endurance creed, Doug will often look back at the creed and each day renew that challenge to “strive, strain, to stretch and to succeed in the arena of competition. I am a Christian competitor and as such, I face my challenger with the face of Christ.” Doug has really honestly come to believe that nothing is impossible with God in his life. A special thanks to all of the Ironmen and Ironwomen teammates that constantly pour their efforts, time and knowledge out for us all. Without all of you, Doug says "I would not be here today!"
