Brenda featured in Iroman Kona article
In just three years in our sport, Brenda Herrington (W40-44) is making some noise. Florida was only her second attempt at this distance and her time of 10:14:57 shows she has what it takes to mix it up with elite gals in Kona....

Race update: Ironman Florida - Brenda wins age group and qualifies for Hawaii!
This past Saturday, Nov. 7th Brenda took on the challenge known as Ironman Florida (official results). The day started with a beautiful sunrise and the rest of the day remained the same. Great temperatures with just a little wind made for a fast day. Brenda exited the water with a swim time of 1:11 and then took off on the bike. She ran down just about all of the female amateurs in the field and finished the 112 miles with a bike time of 4:57 and was the second amateur female overall coming off the bike. Brenda then changed into her running shoes and again didn’t disappoint. She ran the marathon (26.2 miles) in a time of 3:57. At the end of the day she completed the 140.6 miles in 10 hours 14 minutes and WON her age group. With her big win and finish she also qualified for the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii schedule to take place in October 2010. The team is so very proud of Brenda and all the hard work she put into the 2009 training season. We know that God will continue to use Brenda to help give the team an additional platform. Way to Rock Brenda! Read Brenda's Race Report

Doug and I got to talking last night during our run about how important this team is to us and everyone else. During the discussion I made a comment that I hold "teammates" to a higher level than "friends". Doug began to tell me about an article he had read in the past that reminded him of the comments that was made. He forwarded to me this afternoon and I hope you enjoy. I believe this says it all.

Hold the Rope!
Every year a professional sports team wins their respectable world championship. Every year a college team wins the NCAA Title. All of these teams have one thing in common, and contrary to popular belief, gifted & talented athletes are not the answer. No matter how tough it became throughout their season, they did one thing...they held the rope. What is holding the rope?
Imagine you are hanging off the side of a cliff with a drop of 20,000 Feet. The only thing between you and the fall to death is a rope, with the person of your choice at the other end. Who do you know that has the guts to pull you to safety? Who will hold the rope? If you can name two people, that's not good enough because those two people might not be around. The next time your team is together, look around and ask yourself, who could I trust to hold the rope? Then look at yourself and ask the same question--who would I hold the rope for? When you can look at every member on your team and say to yourself that they all would hold the rope, including yourself, you are destined to win a lot of ball games.
No matter what sport you play, in order to win, you have a commitment to your team. If you are supposed to run sprints at the end of practice do it well. If you have to practice, do it. Don't just go through the motions because you are wasting everyone's time. Once you start letting up at practice or start missing workouts, you've killed the team because you didn't hold the rope. When you need to take your own time to eat right, sleep enough, or rehab, do it so you can hold the rope when your team needs you. Remember this is a team sport, everyone must be holding the fibers.
Don't let your team down. Don't let yourself down. HOLD THE ROPE!
South Metro FCA Endurance in Full Swing!
Saturday, April 25th marked a monumental day for the FCA Endurance South Metro Atlanta team. Mike Roby was able to lead in an opening prayer for over 500 triathletes during the John Tanner Sprint Triathlon. It was an amazing thing to be able to take on the opportunity to pray for the safety of the many athletes and their families. The triathlon was the first of the season for both Mike Roby and Doug Delzell who both were able to set personal records in the event. Mike Roby finished at an amazing one hour and seven minutes, Doug Delzell took one hour and twenty three minutes. Both athletes agreed that they found the course to be very challenging, and yet both felt great after the race. FCA Endurance South Metro was also able to set up a tent at the first water station on the run where Lora Roby and Donna Delzell provided cups of much needed water for the athletes as they entered the run portion of the race. After the race ended we were able to make lots of contacts and meet with a lot of people who took the time to stop by to tell us what an answer to prayer we were. One gentleman took a picture of the team banner and shared that he was going home to share with his wife how God has answered their prayers by sending FCA Endurance to the event. We are thankful for the open doors God has provided in just the short time of our team's existence. We look forward to the next triathlon where God may get the glory of our efforts and be able to spread the good news to other athletes and spectators alike.
